EPL transfer target sends Inter to UCL Final ahead of Serie A rival Milan
Premier League transfer target Lutaruro Martinez sends Inter Milan to UEFA Champions League final Final after a 1-0 win over Serie A rival AC Milan in the second semi-final encounter at San Siro on Tuesday night.
The Nerrazzuri reached their first Champions League final in 13 years with a 3-0 aggregate over Rossenerri.
Theo Hernandez fired marginally over with a ferocious strike and Brahim Diaz was denied by Andre Onana as Stefano Pioli’s side attempted to undo the damage done by conceding two goals inside 11 minutes last week.
AC Milan had some bright moments in the first half, with Brahim Diaz and the returning Rafael Leao spurning their best chances, but failed to even muster a shot on target.
The key moment of the night at the San Siro came when Martinez exchanged passes with substitute Romelu Lukaku and drilled a shot from inside the penalty area that Milan keeper Mike Maignan allowed in at his near post.
That goal effectively killed off the tie iin the 74th minute after the goal Lukaku almost got in on the act in stoppage time, forcing a save from Maignan with another well-hit effort,
The full-time whistle was greeted by a deafening noise as Inter’s first shot at Champions League glory since their 2010 success was confirmed.
Three-time winners Inter will now face either Real Madrid or Manchester City in Istanbul on June 10 in their first final appearance since 2010, when they beat Bayern Munich to lift the trophy.
