The Champions League quarter-finals are halfway to completion, with each of the first legs having been played. After Liverpool and Manchester City won on Tuesday, LaLiga Santander’s sides had memorable wins on Wednesday.

Real Madrid won 3-1 away at Chelsea thanks largely to Karim Benzema’s brilliance, with the Frenchman scoring another Champions League hat-trick to give Los Blancos a good lead to take back to the capital with them.

Villarreal, meanwhile, should have claimed a more comfortable win than the 1-0 they managed against Bayern Munich. They had countless chances to extend their lead, and were left wondering just how good it could have been at the final whistle.

On Tuesday, Manchester City beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 to take a narrow lead to the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, whilst Anfield will be able to welcome Liverpool for their match against Benfica next week with a 3-1 lead already secured.
