Real Madrid transfer target signs new deal ahead of UCL semi-final at San Siro
Real Madrid transfer target Rafael Leao has signed a new five deal ahead of the UEFA Champions League first-leg semi-final at San Siro on Wednesday night.
The 23-year-old Portugal international has been in scintillating form for Rossonerri after scoring 13 goals and creating 13 assists from 44 appearances in all competitions this season.
Leao have heavily linked with a move away from dethroned Serie A Champions with Real Madrid credited with an interest in the forward over the last few months.
After the Premier League gaint failed to land the Portuguese winger late in the transfer window with at least two offers, theformer Sporting Lisbon player allegedly declined Chelsea’s approaches.
However, The Athletic confirms that contract has been signed between Leao and AC Milan until the summer of 2028 but Gazzetta dello Sport reavled that ex-Lille man will get a bumper increase worth €7m (£6.1m) per season, while the attacker will also receive a signing bonus of €2m (£1.7m).
Leao has also played an important role in AC Milan progressing to the semi-finals of the Champions League, scoring once and providing five assists in 10 appearances in the competition.
The Portuguse ace is a major doubt after he went down hurt and was withdrawn 11 minutes into Milan’s 2-0 win over Lazio on Saturday afternoon, just days before the European edition of the Derby della Madonnina.
Leao  was seen arriving at the Milan team hotel several hours to undergoing fitness checks ahead of the Champions League semi-final against Inter.
Leao made the move to San Siro from Lille in 2019, and he has represented the Red and Blacks on 159 occasions, scoring 40 goals and registering 34 assists in the process.
