Why Chelsea flop Romelu Lukaku could be Inter Milan’s secret weapon against city rival AC Milan ahead of their UEFA Champions League first-leg clash at San Siro on Wednesday night. The 29-year-old Belgium International has struggled to top form for Simone Inzaghi’s side in his second spell with Nerrazzuri. With three goals and as many assists in his previous three Serie A games, Lukakku is one of Italy’s most effective forwards right now. But despite his recent turnaround, Chelsea’s loan player is still expected to miss out on a starting spot in the greatly anticipated EuroDerby, as Inter coach Inzaghi will probably give the nod to Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko. According to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInter1908 claim that ex-Lazio manager would like to maintain the striking partnership of Martinez and Dzeko, as this combination proved to be vital in the recent two encounters against Milan. Dzeko and Lukaku are vying for the starting place, but Martinez is still the clear front-runner in the attack on Wednesday night at San Siro Stadium. Former Manchester United striker could be Simone Inzaghi’s secret weapon in the second half after he found the back of the net on three occasions coming in the second part of the game. Lukaku plays a crucial part with two of his three assists coming from the win over Lazio at San Siro at the end of April. The Belgian forward would undoubtedly have an opportunity to make an impact as a second-half substitution after starting eight of the last nine Serie A matches, but his five Champions League appearances this season came as a substitute. Lukaku has scored 10 goals in 29 appearances: six in Serie A, three in the Champions League, and one in Coppa Italia but the Belgian will return to Stamford Bridge at the end of his loan spell at Inter in June.
